Eye-Popping Early Marks from California's Next Batch of National Stars

Shae Anderson, Norco

After a big winter season, we were ready for Anderson to do some big things this spring, but we weren't ready for THIS:

  • 41.98 for 300H (US #3)
  • 23.96 for 200 (wind-aided, US #5 all-conditions)
  • 53.10 for 400 (US #1, would have been US #9 at the END of the 2016 season!)

Those times are so good, it makes you wonder how much faster she can go this spring! Hopefully, we're seeing the emergence of a new superstar, and she will continue to make us shake our heads all spring.

Anderson has rocketed to national attention these past two weeks, but her breakout really began in the summer. She was home-schooled the last two years, competing only in USATF competition and all-comers meets. Shae won the USATF Junior Olympics title in the 400 Hurdles in July, signaling that she was ready to become a national force. Now that she is back at Norco, where she started her high school career, she will be able to participate in the championship season and compete for state titles. Based on her early results, she will be a serious contender!
