October 11, 2008, Sacramento, CA – Running against Division 1 and 2 teams, the Forest Lake Christian Varsity Men’s runners all ran personal best times on the three mile Granite Park Cross Country Course at the “Other” Meet Invitational on Saturday morning.

Sophomore DJ Unruh sprinted past seven opponents in the last half mile to place 34th in a personal best time of eighteen minutes, 35 seconds to lead the Falcons to a fifth place team finish with 137 points.  The rest of the Falcon runners followed Unruh’s lead to also run personal best marks.  Ashton Santee took 38th with a 18:42 clocking, and Billy Corbin cinched 46th place in 19:55.  Finishing out the Falcon’s top-seven was Seth Brainard (49th, 20:06), Amos McCamey (50th, 20:54), Dawson Young (51st, 20:58), and David Herron (52nd; 22:16).

“We finished with a 2 minute, 19-second gap for our first five runners - all setting personal-best marks,” said Coach Vogt. “This is good point to be as we begin our championship season phase; our base conditioning is well on the way, and now we can develop some advanced racing strategy.”

The Falcon JV Women’s top runner was Annie Pearce, placing fifth over the 2-mile course in 17:16, while Jake Henry and Joshua Long placed 24thand 26th in the Men’s JV race with times of 15:00 and 15:20 respectively.

The Falcon’s next competition will be the Bella Vista “Bronco” Invitational on the prestigious Willow Hills Course, located in Folsom on Saturday, October 18, with the Falcon’s first race beginning at 11:00 am.  And then at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, October 22, the Falcons will host the Central Valley Christian League Championship at Regional Park in Auburn.
