Forest Lake Christian Cross Country Takes First at Wildfire Invitational

 Falcon Men’s’ and Coed Teams both Victorious

 

October 4, 2008, Foresthill, CA – 10 schools competed at the Wildfire Cross Country Invitational on Saturday morning, trudging through a muddy 5 Kilometer course and braving intermittent rain storms.  Just as sunlight began to break through the midst of parting clouds, the Forest Lake Christian Varsity Men’s runners cinched the team title in the Division 4 and 5 Race.

 

The Falcons edged out Ripon High School by 2 just points, scoring 40 points to Ripon’s 42. Third place went to Foresthill with 57 points, and Linden managed 4th with 85 points.

 

Austin Violette led the pace for the Falcon’s to finish first across the line in the Division 4/5 Race with a personal best time of 18:16, whileAshton Santee took 5th with a 21:19 clocking.   Finishing out the Falcon’s top-ten was Billy Corbin (9th, 22:11), Seth Brainard (12th, 22:59),Amos McCamey (13th, 23:14), and Dawson Young (16th, 23:36).

 

The Falcon Coed Team also flew away with top honors over the 5k course, placing first with 15 points.  Robert Ring was first in 23:55, followed by David Herron (2nd), Joshua Long  (3rd), Noelle Hayes (4th), and Annie Pearce (5th).

 

“This was an especially fun race today with most of the course on muddy slippery trails, especially as the mud began to also stick to our shoes and adding extra weight to carry,” said Ashton Santee.

   

The Falcon’s next competition will be the “Other” Meet Invitational at Granite Park, located off Power Inn Road in Sacramento on Saturday, October 11, with the Falcon’s first race beginning at 9:45 am.
