Analysis: The sky is the limit for Luis Grijalva as he approaches his senior season. He has improved each year in every event across the board, and made huge leaps in the 2015-2016 season. In cross country, he shed 40 seconds from his three-mile time, and almost two minutes from his 5K time. On the track, he dropped 20 seconds in the 3200m, and 10 seconds in the mile.
A California native, Grijalva has competed against the best in the country his whole high school career. This makes his 14th-place finish at the California state cross country meet, second-place finish at the Stanford Invitational, and victory at the Woodbridge Cross Country Classic even more impressive.
Backed by experience in big races and a steady rate of improvement, Grijalva will be well-positioned to qualify for his first cross country national meet in 2016.
