Courtney Corrin of Harvard-Westlake has the longest jump of the season, finished 2nd at last year's state meet and defeated Tara Davis of Agoura at the SS Masters meet. She won the state meet as a 9th grader and would like to continue her unblemished record this season. Ma'ane Mosley of St. Mary's Berkeley found her section meet to her liking as she had a massive improvement to win the meet and help her team take the team crown. Marguex Jones of Redlands finished in 3rd place at the SS Masters meet but has one of the top jumps this season and will be a threat.

Boys Favorite: Bryce Huggins Bakersfield (CE) 24'5.25"
Leading Contenders: Tanner Battikha St. Augustine (SDS) 24'2", Joey Souza (above) Kingsburg (CE) 24'5.5" & Elijah Lucy Emery (NCS) 23'10"
State Meet Record: James Stallworth Tulare (CE) 26'4.75"

The long jump is another event with lots of worthy contenders and it is very tough to pick a favorite. Only one thing is for certain and that is that two-time defending champion Nate Moore of Castro Valley will not win this year as he has taken his talents to Oregon. Bryce Huggins of Bakersfield is the slight favorite as the Central Section champion over always tough Joey Souza of Kingsburg. Tanner Battikha of St. Augustine was the SDS champion with a personal best of 24'2". NCS MOC star Elijah Lucy of Emery won the long jump along the way to two more victories in the 400 and 200.
