MileSplit Foot Locker National Power Rankings - Weekend Wrap-Up

 

The majority of ranked individuals competed this weekend, as conference and state-series races took place in full force.  Kevin Williams won the Colorado State title, while Georgia Griffin (New Hampshire) and Katie Flood (Iowa) won their respsective state titles as well.

 

MileSplit Foot Locker National Power Rankings - Weekend Wrap-Up

 

Boys

1. Luke Puskedra (Sr., Judge Memorial, UT) - Season Complete.

2. Chris Derrick (Sr., Neuqua Valley, IL) - Easily won the Normal Sectional, helping his team to the big victory.  Derrick ran 14:23 for 2.95, winning by 20 seconds.  State is up next.

3. German Fernandez (Sr., Riverbank, CA) - At the Trans-Valley League Championships, Fernandez stopped and tied his shoe and still won by a huge margin.  His 14:42 mark on the course ties his PR for the season.

4. Colby Lowe (Sr., Southlake Carroll, TX) - Lowe won his district meet in grand fashion, helping his team to the championship.

5. Ben Johnson (Sr., Albuquerque Academy, NM) - Johnson guided his team to a big win at the Los Alamos Invitational Saturday, winning the individual title in the process.  Johnson's mark of 15:30 was accomplished at 7,000+ feet, winning by 42 seconds.

6. Vince McNally (Sr., Conestoga Valley, PA) - Winning the District 3 meet, McNally cruised away for victory very early on, winning in 16:38.

7. Kevin Williams (Sr., D'Evelyn, CO) - The only top ten ranked male to run in a state meet competition, Williams easily won the 4A state title, running the fastest time of the day.  Williams' mark of 15:43 not only won his race by 40 seconds, but also topped the rest of the fields on the day by at least 11 seconds.

8. Doug Smith (Jr., Gill-St. Bernard's, NJ) - Idle.  No weekend competition.

9. Rob Finnerty (Sr., Burnsville, MN) - Running on a mission, Finnerty trumped his competition in the Section 3AAA Meet.  Finnerty won by 48 seconds, stamping himself the favorite heading into next weekend's state competition.

Girls

1. Jordan Hasay (Jr., Mission Prep, CA) - Going out in a blazing 5:20 first mile, Hasay easily ran away from her competition at the SLO County Invitational on Thursday.  Hasay's mark of 17:10 set a course record, besting her freshman year time on the course by 12 seconds.

2. Ashley Brasovan (Jr., Wellington, FL) - A 19:34 win beat Brasovan's rivals by nearly a minute, as she captured the Palm Beach County Championships individual title.

3. Neely Spence (Sr., Shippensburg, PA) - Easily winning her District 3 Meet, Spence ran an easy 19:04 5k.

4. Carly Seymour (Sr., Central Cambria, PA) - Seymour smashed her own course record at her district meet this past weekend.  Seymour's mark beat her previous CR by 25 seconds, as she finished the race in 17:39.

5. Katie Flood (So., Dowling Catholic, IA) - One of two top ten ranked girls running in their state meets, Flood set the state course record by 37 seconds, running 13:27 to win the 4k state title.  Flood won by over 30 seconds, helping her team easily win the team title.

6. Christine Babcock (Sr., Woodridge, CA) - Idle.  Her school decided to not let the team run the Apache Invitational.

7. Emily Infeld (Sr., Clev. Heights Beaumont, OH) - Infeld won her regional competition by 23 seconds, advancing to the state finals next weekend in a time of 18:10.

8. Aurora Scott (Sr., Home Schooled, VA) - No information to report.

9. Georgia Griffin (Sr., Hanover, NH) - Griffin won the Class I state title in New Hampshire over the weekend.  Griffin helped her team win the team title as well, as she won by over a minute in 18:01.

10. Kathy Kroeger (Jr., Independence, TN) - Each week it seems Kroeger's fitness becomes more like her national championship form of last fall.  Kroeger demolished the competition at her Region 6 AAA Meet this weekend, winning the 5k race in 17:58, nearly three minutes ahead of the competition.
