Mt. SAC: Hasay, Saugus Win Going Away

Mt. SAC hosted some of the top talent along the West Coast Friday and Saturday.  The key races came Saturday in the Super Sweepstakes.  The girls race shined as the brightest race of the day, where US #3 Saugus (CA) and US #5 Carondelet (CA) went head-to-head.  Saugus proved they are one of the best in the land, if not the best, as they scored a mere 62 points.  Jordan Hasay (Jr., Mission Prep, CA) lit up the individual race, winning by 23 seconds in 16:42.

Girls

The Girls Super Sweepstakes Race finished as everything fans hoped it would be and so much more.  Jordan Hasay (Jr., Mission Prep, CA) ran away from the field with her usual blistering open pace, winning the race in 16:42, 23 seconds up on runner-up Jessica Tonn (So., Xavier Prep, AZ).  Tonn finished ten seconds ahead of the next closest individual, Lauryn Chetelet (Sr., Davis, CA), who finished third in 17:15.  '06 Foot Locker finalist Kauren Tarver (Sr., Serreno, CA) finished a disappointing 12th place in 17:39.

The team race highlighted the entire weekend of racing.  A great match-up between all the top teams in California took place.  US #3 Saugus proved how deep and talented they are, as they ran an amazing 52 second split, easily capturing the team title over Torrey Pines 62-114.  Saugus' leaders, Katie Dunn (Sr.) and Kaylin Mahoney (Fr.) finished 8-9 respectively, leading their squad to victory.  Torrey Pines ran a great race, beating US #5 Carondelet by ten, as Carondelet didn't have the same firepower up front as the other two, finishing third.
