In Her Own Words: Kendall Ellis - The Beginning Of The End

Hey everyone! Kendall here with my weekly blog. Last weekend was the FloridaRelays at the University of Florida. Yet again STA showed out, especially on the girl’s side. My 4x2 relay outdid our previous performance at the Texas Relays by breaking our own national record. Rewriting the record books just one week later. The DMR,4x2, and 4x4 all broke the meet record and I couldn’t be prouder of my girls.

This was the most fun Florida Relays experience I’ve ever had. Maybe because it’s my last as a high school competitor but I really enjoyed everything about this meet. Bring on the emotions, it hit me hard this weekend as I realized that this truly is the last season I’ll get to compete with my current teammates. To make it even better/worse, this Wednesday we have our senior night. This is the first time the track team has had one, but it’s a nice way to recognize the seniors in their last season.

On a personal note, this Friday I have prom. Woo. The excitement should hit sometime around maybe Friday at noon because as of now I still feel no way about it. I’m a little more focused on upcoming meets than I am my social life this time. If you’re curious about prom or as to what I really look like outside of a meet cleaned up, follow me on Instagram @kandii_kendall. In other news, this week I found out that I’ve been invited to the Brooks PR Invitational in Seattle. I’m also a 2014 BCAA Scholar Athlete. I’m excited for these events and thankful for the opportunities at hand.

It’s the beginning of the end. Just three major meets left, districts, regionals, and state. It’s bittersweet to think my high school career is almost over but I can say I’ve enjoyed my time and wouldn’t change it for the world. Part of me is ready to head on out to California while the other part can’t stop the waterworks. To all my fellow athletes let’s get it these last few qualifiers. Show out and have fun, unleash your inner beast. Refocus your energy, prioritize, and get ready for what you’re about to do. I wish you all the best of luck in your upcoming meets and training and remind you to go for the gold. Why? Because victory is best served gold.
