The chart below ranks California's top boys combo 1600-meter/3200-meter runners.
Note: This chart has been updated (as of 5/16 at 7:45 pm) to expand the list and fill in some gaps that were unintentionally created by a limited search. That search of 125 was based off 1600 times and did not take into consideration superior 3200 times that would have slotted certain runners much higher in the list. The updated data still pulls based off of 1600 rankings but the request for 500 combo runners produced this much more complete list of 413.
While the data search is based on 1600 times, the rankings below are in order of best combined times of both the 1600 and 3200 distance events. These times are solely based off of 2018 bests reported on ca.milesplit.com through meets of May 12.
Redwood junior Liam Anderson, who ranks No. 6 in the US in the 3200 and No. 7 in CA in the 1600, is the overall combined-time leader by nearly eight seconds over runner-up John Bennett. Xavier Court leads CA in the 1600 and ranks 14th in the 3200. He slots fourth overall behind Anderson, Bennett and sophomore Matt Strangio.
There are 15 runners within at least 20 seconds of Anderson's leading combined time and 45 within 30 seconds.
Numbers 2-28 are separated by 20 seconds. There are 203 within a minute of Anderson and 223 within a minute of Bennett.
