Wildcats alumna will run for Team USA

Kara Lubieniecki’s jammin’. The 2011 Chico State graduate will represent USA Track & Field at the upcoming NACAC (North America, Central American, & Caribbean) Cross Country Championships on Jan. 26 in Mandeville, Jamaica.

Lubieniecki’s recent 13th-place finish at the USATF Club Cross Country Championships helped make her one of the top choices to represent the United States in this competition.

“This is a really cool opportunity for Kara,” said Chico State Distance Coach Gary Towne. “She’s taken really huge steps forward since graduating and it’s exciting to see her enter the peak years of her running.”

Lubieniecki was a two-time All American and three-time All-West Region cross country performer for the Wildcats and won the 2010 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) title.  She was a two-time CCAA Champion on the track where she earned a pair of All-America honors and five All-CCAA accolades.

Lubieniecki has moved back to Colorado, and recently moved to Boulder more specifically to train with her group (Hudson’s Training) while applying to graduate school at the University of Colorado.

The NACAC Cross Country Championships will feature teams and athletes from North American, Central American and Caribbean nations competing in the 8K senior-men’s race, 6K senior-women’s race, 6K junior-men’s race or the 4K junior women’s race.
