Lady Gamecocks Tie For Second at NCAAs

Men\'s Pole Vault
Coastal Carolina junior Mark Johnson placed eighth in the event with a best vault of 16-10.75. Johnson finished first at the Big South Championships in the vault with a 15-08.50 best.

Women\'s 4x100 Relay
The Lady Gamecocks placed fourth in the 400 relay preliminaries in 43.92 with Texas posting the number one preliminary time of 43.60. The Gamecocks finished second in the 4x100 event with Texas taking the win, with a .13 margin between the final times.

Men\'s 110 Hurdles
South Carolina freshman Jason Richardson posted a qualifying mark of 13.79 in the high hurdles, good for a sixth place preliminary mark. Richardson posted a top three mark of 13.50 in the finals, with Florida\'s Josh Walker placing first in 13.39.

Women\'s 100 Hurdles
USC teammates Ronetta Alexander and Tiffany Ross-Williams crossed the line third and fourth, respectively in the 100 hurdle preliminaries, good for spots in the event finals.

Men\'s 100
Clemson senior Ron Richards posted A heat preliminary time of 10.41, good for a third place heat position and fifth best preliminary time. In heat two USC\'s Leroy Dixon finished first in 10.41 with teammate Rodney Martin finishing third in 10.46.

Women\'s 100
The USC duo of Shalonda Solomon and Erica Whipple finished fifth and sixth, respectively in the second heat of the preliminaries, failing to make the finals.

Men\'s 3,000 Steeplechase
Clemson sophomore Itay Magidi finished eighth in the 3,000 steeplechase preliminaries in 8:35.05. Magidi finished second in heat two of the preliminaries. Coastal Carolina senior Terah Kipchiris finished 25th in the steeplechase preliminaries.

Magidi, a sophomore from Yavne, Israel, improved on his personal-best and Israeli National Record time in the 3000m steeplechase, crossing the finish line in 8:34.12 en route to a seventh-place finish. He concludes his sophomore campaign ranked second on Clemson\'s all-time list in the steeplechase, and is the first Tiger to earn multiple All-America honors in the event.

Women\'s 4x400 Relay
The Lady Gamecocks had the fastest time going into the finals of the relay event. The squad of Shevon Stoddardt, Natasha Hasting, Tawana Watkins and Stephanie Smith preliminary time was 3:29.79. In the finals the Gamecocks were edged by Texas, 3:27.12 to 3:27.22.

Women\'s 200
Shalonda Smith of USC placed second in the 200 finals with a time of 22.86. Florida International senior Sheri-Ann Brooks crossed the line first in 22.85.

Women\'s Triple Jump
Clemson Tiger Gisele Oliveira rounded out the top two with a best of 45-00.50.

Team Recap

South Carolina tied for second with UCLA, tallying 48 points. The Clemson Tigers finished 32nd with eight points.

Men
South Carolina placed 26th in the team standings with 12 points. Clemson tied with America, Missouri, Kentucky, North Carolina State, Jackson State, Central Michigan and Texas State with a 37th place point total of six.
