California Track & Field Journals: Jacque Taylor - Intro

Milesplit California Track & Field Journals

Jacque Taylor (Sr., Casa Grande) is a two time Foot Locker National Finalist and a California State Champion in Cross Country for Division 2.   She is also a strong contender for the 1600 meter run this season and is hoping to go under her 4:49 PR.   Jacque has a very positive attitude about running and if she has a bad race she can put it behind her and look ahead.  After spending five minutes talking to Jacque I felt like I knew her for years and walked away wishing I had.  She has been a joy to get to know and we look forward to watching her progress over the next few months.  Keep checking back to see what's next for Jacque Taylor as she journals about her final prep season.

Hey Milesplit! My name is Jacque Taylor and I live in Northern California. When I was 6 years old I moved from Aptos. If I hadn't moved, I'd probably be playing soccer at Aptos High School. From the time I was 5 to the time I was 16, I litterally lived and breathed soccer. I think I have been everywhere in California at least 3 times! Not only that, but I have gone out of the state for soccer tournies. Honeslty, I was always the kid that would complain everytime we had to run a lap around the soccer field, sometimes I even tried to bribe the coaches.

Starting in 5th grade I ran a mile every Friday after school to get into better shape for soccer, but it turned out that I was really good at it! My friends dad told me to contact Bob Shor who at the time was the Santa Rosa Express running coach. Everything I have learned over the years, I owe to him. Bob created my love for this sport and I'm very grateful for that. Running is my passion. I like to run becasue I love the feeling of being able to push through the pain and the sense of accomplishment when you're finished.

Next year I will be attending the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. I'm very excited and I can't wait!! The coaches and the team are awsome. I'm actually going to say that I can't wait to be a freshman because I will have to do things I've never done before! And not to mention all the cool freshman that I'll be there with ;)
