Marietta Proves SE Ranking, Sumner's Speed Kills

Marietta's Girls came into the meet as heavy favorites to win, after their most recent ranking on MileSplit.com as the #2 squad in the NXN Southeast Region. The lady Devils did not have a letdown and ran away with the 7A Girls team title scoring 49 points by placing 4 runners in the top 13 positions. Sr Ellie Hall led the pack taking overall runnerup honors (in a fantastic race for the Individual title) going 19:39.

June Mwaniki kicked in with a 4th place effort of 19:05, Ani Henderson took 9th at 19:39 and Hattie Rydinsky was 13th in 19:55

In what many in attendance are calling the best race ever for an Individual Girls title, Brynne Sumner of Woodstock, Hall and Madelynne Cadeau of South Forsyth put on a show. here are the following excerpts from tweets by Enrique Tomas:

"The sun is shining on the 7A Girls as the temps rise they should have even better conditions to put down the hammer on this tough Carrollton Course...Tight pack for 7A through mile led by @BrynneSumner. Hall Hernandez, Cadeau and a few others all together...Coming out of the woods 4 girls lead with @MariettaGAhs Ellie Hall out front. Cadeau, Hernandez, and Ellsworth in tow....Hall makes a big surge down the hill to separate and string out the pack. Cadeau follows suit trying to hang on as they head for mile 2 marker....Last time headed into the woods Cadeau and Hall are neck and neck its anyones race. Brynne Sumner has moved up to a solid 3rd inching closer to the leaders...Coming up Separation slope Hall and Cadeau continue to battle as Brynne Sumner hunts them down closing down the 10m gap! Her 800m speed should come in handy down the final hill! ....7A Girls Champion is @BrynneSumner of @woodstock_xc with a come from behind win in the final 50m with an 18:36 the fastest time of the meet!  Can this @NovaAthletics committ make it to San Diego?"  WOW! Hall edged out Cadeau for 2nd at 18:39.09 to 18:39.24  

Madelynne Cadeau

#14 NXN SE Region ranked South Forsyth took 2nd on the team Podium with 81 points. Cadeau led the way in 3rd (18:39), with Aleesa de Castro 14th (19:57) and Emma O'Connor 15th (20:01) 

Nyah Hernandez

Milton had 2 All-State performers in the race including Nyah Hernandez in 5th place overall in 19:12 and Taylor Cushman 8th at 19:34 elevating Milton to the final team Podium spot.

Walton edged Milton by 4 points to take 3rd in the team standings led by Abigail Robertson's 7th place run of 19:29 Madison Watts of Mountain View placed 10th overall in 19:38 earning the last spot on the All-State team
