Highlights: Placed 2nd at State in the 200 (23.70/0.3) and 3rd in the 100 (11.65/1.2) ... 11.56/1.0 PR in the 100m (from Arcadia) is US #10 ... 23.53 PR in the 200m from league final is CA #1, US #8 and US #15 overall ... Among seven meet titles in the 100m: Arcadia, Mt. SAC Relays (11.67/0.2), SS Division 1 (11.75/-2.6) and SS Masters (11.70/0.0) ...three-time SS D1 champion and State medalist 100m ... two-time SS D1 and SS Masters champion 200m ... three-time State medalist 200m; State champion in both short sprints as a junior. Next stop: LSU.



Senior - 100H, 300H
Highlights: State champion in the 300 hurdles running 41.76 PR (CA #1, US #8t) ... three-time State medalist 300H ... also qualified for the final in the 100 hurdles, running 14.26 for 8th ... second year in a row making the State final in the 100H and third consecutive year as a State qualifier ... 13.92 PR (from SS Masters is CA #7). Next stop: USC


Senior - 1600, 3200
Highlights: Stricken by a virus at State, Brown was nowhere near her usual self in Clovis. She ran both the 1600 prelims and 3200 final but was hardly the US-ranked distance star she had been all season ... Note that Brown's 4:45.46 PR for 1600 (for 2nd at the Mt. SAC Relays) is CA #6 and US #10 and her San Diego Section-record 3200 PR of 10:15.97 (from the Escondido Invitational) is CA #7, US #15 and US #10 among seniors ... ran 4:47.61 to win at Stanford ... three-time SDS champion 1600. Next stop: California.


Junior - DT, SP
Highlights: State champion in the shot put (46-11) ... SP PR 47-7 (to win at All-Sierra's Championships) is CA #1, US #14 ... 3rd at State in the discus throw (161-0) ... had DT PR of 174-2 (CA #2, US #4) as the top qualifier at State Prelims (throw was US #2 at the time) ... US #1 junior in DT & SP; three-time State medalist DT ... three-time State qualifier and two-time finalist SP.



Senior - HJ
Highlights: Despite a coaching change, Burke was again at her best on the biggest stage, jumping a PR and winning a State title for the second year in a row, one of only two champions from 2017 to defend. Oddly, Burke was declared a co-champion with Long Beach Wilson sophomore Rachel Glenn when meet management decided to buck the traditional rules and not conduct a jump-off ... her co-winning jump of 5-10 was a three-inch season best and two-inch PR from her 5-8 winning height in 2017 ... two-time SS Division 1 champion. Next stop: Dartmouth



Senior - 1600, 3200
Highlights: Like Brown above, Castillo was not at her best at the State final. Nonetheless, she is one of the elites in the US ranking #4 in the 3200 (10:06.47 for 1st at SS Masters) and #6 for 1600 (4:43.69 to win at Mt. SAC) ... Castillo proved to have a short memory, winning the 1-Mile at Brooks PR a week later in 4:41.40 which converts to 4:39.77 for 1600, the the eighth-fastest time in CA history ... 1600 champion at Don Green (4:56.81), Redondo (4:54.03), Mt. SAC and SS D2 (4:43.73) ... Ran 4:47.56 for 2nd at State qualifying (4:49.34 for 7th in the final) ... in the 3200, ran 10:09.12 for 2nd at Arcadia, and 10:22.24 to win SS Masters ... in CA, Castillo ranks #9 in the 800 (2:10.70 for 1st at Azusa MOC), No. 3 in the 1600, and No. 1 in the 3200 ... No other distance runner in CA is top-10 in all three events, and only one, Olivia O'Keeffe, comes close.  Next stop: TCU 


Senior - 1600, 3200
Highlights: State champion for 3200 meters (at right above) with a 10:10.32 PR (CA #4, US #10) ... this after placing 4th in the 1600 (4:45.49) ... PR for 1600 of 4:45.15 (for 3rd at Sac-Joaquin Masters) is CA #5, US #8 ... ran 4:47.81 for 3rd in State Prelims ... ran 1-Mile PR of 4:49.57 (for 3rd at New Balance Outdoor) ... two-time Sac-Joaquin Section Division 1 and Masters champion for 3200 ... 4th at State in the 3200 as a junior ... twin sister Maddy won the 1600 two years in a row and was runner-up to Elena in the 3200 ... the two alone combined to earn Oak Ridge the State girls team runner-up trophy. Next stop: Notre Dame
Senior - 1600, 3200
Highlights: State 1600 champion for the second year in a row and 3200 runner-up for the second year in a row. Winning 1600 time of 4:42.77 is CA #2 , US #2 ... ran 10:11.56 for 2nd to twin sister Elena in the 3200 ... Ran 3200 PR of 10:08.01 (to win at Mt. SAC Relays) is CA #2, US #7 ... two-time SJS Division 1 and Masters champion for 1600 ... Post-CIF, won the 2-Mile at New Balance Nationals, finishing in 10:04.53 despite a nasty spike with 600 to go that required stitches. That time is US #6 and ranks ninth all-time in CA. Next stop: Michigan
Senior - TJ
Highlights: State champion for the triple jump, 41-07 (2.0) is CA #2 and US #10 among wind-legal marks ... all-conditions PR of 42-9 (from the CCS Top 8) is CA #1 and US #3 ... three-time State Meet qualifier, two-time finalist and first-time medalist ... three-time Central Coast Section champion including jumping 41-05.25 to win this year ... 15 meets with jumps of 40 feet or better over the last two seasons, including all seven during the 2018 CIF season .. six meets of 41-plus, including four this year. Next stop: Missouri



Junior - 100, 200, Relay
Highlights: Runner-up at the State Meet in the 100 (11.61/1.2) and 3rd in the 200 (23.76) ... (pictured at left above with fellow junior Deanna Nowling) ... anchored winning 4x100 relay (45.69, CA #1, US #6) and ran a leg on 3rd place 4x400 relay team (3:44.27, CA #2) that clinched the girls team title for Serra ... 100m PR of 11.57 (as the top mark at State Prelims) is CA #2 & US #6 junior ... 200m PR of 23.65 (as the leading time at State Prelims) is CA #1 & US #6 junior ... two-time State Meet finalist 100 ... SS Division 4 champion 100 (11.59/1.2) and 200 (23.70/1.1).


Senior - DT
Highlights: State champion in the discus throw, winning with a PR of 174-09 (CA #1, US #3) ... three-time State qualifier and two-time medalist (3rd as a junior, 167-09)... four-time Northern Section champion ... in 14 meets as a senior, Grotegeer won 11 and had the second-best throw at Stanford (156-11), Arcadia (166-5) and State Prelims (163-2) ... five of seven 160-plus throws in her career were this season. Next stop: San Diego State



Sophomore - HJ
Highlights: State co-champion in the high jump (5-10) with senior Abigail Burke ... PR of 5-11 (to win at California Relays) is CA #1 & US #7 all grades, US #2 sophomores ... jumped 5-8 for 2nd at Arcadia and 5-7 to win the SS Division 1 title ... Divisional finalist in the 400 with a PR of 56.25 (CA #4 among sophomores).


Senior - DT, SP
Highlights: Runner-up at State in the discus throw (154-04) and 4th in the shot put (44-08.25), the only thrower to medal in both events ... DT PR is CA #3, US #9 and US #6 in the class ... SP season best 45-5.25 (for 1st at Sacramento MOC) is CA #5 ... Silver medal-winning DT was a 7-foot, 4-inch PR from previous 158-0 (for 1st at Sacramento MOC) ... four-time State qualifier in the DT and two-time medalist ... four-time State qualifier in the SP, three-time finalist and two-time medalist ... Three-time NC MOC champion in both throws ... five of nine career 150-plus DTs this season ... amazingly consistent in the SP with last 20 meets at 43-03.50 or better, including 13 plus-44 (seven of eight this season at 44-03 or better).

Junior - HJ, LJ
Highlights: State champion in the long jump (19-09.75/1.4 PR) and 4th in the high jump (5-8) ... wind-legal LJ PR is CA #1 & US #5 in the junior class ... all-conditions LJ PR 19-10.50 (2.2) (to win San Diego Section title) is CA #2, US #12 among juniors ... HJ PR of 5-10 (to win at Mt. SAC Relays) is CA #1 & US #4 junior ...  ...  ... HJ 5-8 to win at Mt. Carmel, 5-9 to win at Arcadia and 5-6 for second consecutive SDS title ... 100m season best 11.87/1.3 (for 1st at Mt. Carmel Invitational) is CA #4 in the class ... runner-up in the 100 at SDS final (11.91/2.3) ... SDS champion in the 100 and 200 as a soph.


Senior - 200m, 100H, Relay
Highlights: State champion for the 100 hurdles (13.35/1.3) ... (No. 5 above) ... PR 13.24 (as the top qualifying time at State Prelims) is CA #1, US #3 ... four-time State qualifier in the 100H and three-time medalist ... two-time SS Division 1 champion ... ran 13.54 /0.7 for first SS Masters title ... ran 13.54/1.5 to win Mt. SAC Relays ... also ran 13.54/1.3 for 2nd at Arcadia ... also a State finalist in the 200 where she placed 7th (24.37) ... PR in the 200 (23.76/3.8 at league final) is CA #6 ... also ranked CA #10 in the 100 (11.82/nwi), and ran a key leg on the 4x100 relay (45.71; CA #2, US #7). Next stop: UNLV.



Senior - 800
Highlights: State champion in the 800 (2:05.22 PR for CA #1, US #3 and US #2 in the class) ... two-time State runner-up in the 800 finally got to the top of the medals stand clocking the seventh-fastest time in CA history ... followed State victory with a win at Brooks PR (2:06.50) ... ran 2:10.77 to win third consecutive SJ Masters title and followed that with a 2:07.64 at State Prelims, just off her 2:07.62 previous PR from the 2017 State final ... Has eight sub-2:10s in her career. Next stop: Georgetown



Junior - 100, 200, Relay
Highlights: State champion 100m (11.47/1.2, season best) upsetting 2017 winner Ariyonna Augustine ... placed 4th at State in the 200 (24.02/0.3) ... anchored runner-up 4x100 relay team (45.91, CA #3, US #15) ... SS Division 2 champion in both 100 (11.74/-1.0) and 200 (24.10/1.7) ... State 100 time is CA #1, US #2 in the junior class among wind-legal marks (wl), US #4 all-conditions (ac) and US #6t overall wl ... 200 PR of 23.62/2.5 (from SS Prelims) is CA #4 ac and US #6 ac in the class. 



Senior - 1600, 3200
Highlights: Double-medalist at State placing 2nd in the 1600 (4:43.69) and 3rd in the 3200 (10:12.56) ... has two 2nds and a 3rd for 1600 in three years at the State Final ... first year also running 3200 showed her versatility ... 1600 PR of 4:42.71 (for 1st at SJ Masters in an epic race with the Denner twins) is US #1 ... 3200 PR from State is CA #5, US #11 ... ran 2:11.82 for 800 to rank CA #14 ... only other distance runner in CA to rank as high across all three events (#s 14-1-5) is Mariah Castillo (mentioned above).

Senior - 200, 400
Highlights: Double State Meet champion, winning the 200 (23.66/0.3) and 400 (52.37) ... (No. 5 pictured above from the 400 at State Prelims) ... first Northern California girl and fourth overall in State Meet history to win both the 200 and 400 at the same championship meet ... she unseated 2017 champion Ariyonna Augustine in the 200 ... also ran on 4x100 relay team that placed 5th (46.86) ... 400 PR (from State final) is CA #1, US #3 and US #1 in the class ... 200 PR of 23.56/-0.4 (for third consecutive North Coast MOC title) is CA #2 all-conditions, #1 wind-legal ... four-time State Meet finalist and three-time medalist at 400 (runner-up in as a junior, 4th as a sophomore) ... only other sub-53 for 1st at NC MOC (52.69).

Junior - PV
Highlights: State champion in the pole vault (12-6) ... boosted her PR to 13-4 to win post-CIF Golden West Invitational ... set in-season PR of 13-2 (for 2nd at Sacramento MOC) ... mark from Golden West moves Wong to CA #4, US #12 overall, and US #5 in the junior class ... six meets with clearances at 13 feet or higher, including 13-0 for second consecutive Central Coast Section title, 13-0 to win at CCS Top 8, and 13-1 to earn the King City Invitational crown ... 5th at State as a sophomore (12-6) ... cleared 13-3 to win the CA Winter Championships title (held outdoors at Arcadia HS).
