CIF-SS Preview: Breaking Down The Top Teams Per Division

The CIF-Southern Section all-divisional finals will be held Saturday at El Camino College in Torrance. Field events begin with boys pole vault at 10:30 a.m., track events begin at 1 p.m.

The all-divisional meet crowns champions from four divisions, boys and girls. Every event is a championship and there will be 128 CIF-SS Divisional Champions crowned at this epic meet.

In addition, there will be eight team champions crowned.

Track and field events will be conducted in Division 4-3-2-1 order, with the exception of discus, which will be in contested in 2-1-4-3 order.

The meet also serves as a qualifier to the CIF-SS Masters Meet, which is in itself a qualifier for the CIF-State Championships. Getting out of Divisionals to Masters is generally more difficult than getting from Masters to State. At least for State, there is an at-large standard which allows more than just the minimum number of qualifiers to move on. (Note that the at-large standard for State can only be achieved at the Masters Meet. Find the standard on Page 6 of the Handbook on the CIF-State site.)

Qualifying standards for Divisional athletes advancing to Masters

The top nine (9) performances, regardless of division, will advance to the Masters Meet. The top twelve (12) performances in the 800, 1600, 3200 and all field events will advance to the Masters Meet.
