#9 Carlos Aviles, Ventura, Shot Put/Discus
From year to year, there are always some athletes that emerge as dominant forces in their events after solid seasons the year before. One such athlete is Ventura junior thrower Carlos Aviles. Last season Aviles qualified to the State Meet in the discus but not in the shot put. This year, Aviles has the leading marks for both events and will be a favorite to sweep the throwing events in June. His best of 63-05.05 in the shot put makes him one of three throwers in California with a mark over 60 feet while his 194-1 mark in the discus makes him one of two throwers in California over 190 feet.
