I have to tell you: it's really hard for us to pick which meets we're going to cover on-site every weekend. There are so many invitationals across the state, and so many great athletes that we would love to see competing in person, that it can be borderline paralyzing to choose where to allocate our limited resources. That is one of the reasons why we publish rankings every week - it helps remind us about the noteworthy performances from meets we didn't cover live, and also gives us a chance to shine the spotlight on those athletes. And what could be more noteworthy from this past weekend than a nation-leading 3200 by Haley Herberg? The Capistrano Valley senior busted out a HUGE PR of 10:23.17, which would have ranked 28th in the country at the end of the 2017 season. What a start to the season for Herberg, and that's just one example of the many great performances that we're trying to catch up on from around the state this past weekend. But our rankings this week aren't just about individual recognition...
In our quest to provide you with interesting stats every week of the outdoor season, we're beginning to rotate the types of rankings we publish. We'll start with section-by-section rankings, using our Virtual Meet tool to generate both individual event rankings and team scores. This allows us to see which schools have emerged as the early-season favorites within every section. And as always, subscribers have access to most of the tools that we use to publish stats, which means you can generate your own customized reports whenever you like!
Use the first link to access event-by-event all-sections rankings, which you can then sort by section, league, class year, and more. The links below will take you to already-customized virtual meets for all 10 sections. Enjoy!
