Southern Section Boys Battle for Division Titles, State Berths

Boys Division 1 Preview

Mira Costa senior Xavier Court had the top combined time from the Division 1 preliminary heats. Court was one of six under 15 minutes. Crescenta Valley senior Colin FitzGerald , the top returning finisher from the 2016 final, was 17th in the merged prelim results (15:06.90).

When we talk about Division 1, there's no overlooking Great Oak's dominance. The Wolfpack have won the division title each of the last two years and the State D1 title each of the last three years.

Great Oak returns three of its top four scorers from last year's section final in senior Carlos Carvajal, senior Jacob Korgan and senior Gavin Korby.

Loyola, Roosevelt, Dana Hills and Crescenta Valley figure to battle for second and all should be a lock for one of the section's seven team qualifying slots for the Nov. 25 CIF State Championship at Woodward Park in Fresno.
