Katherine Lee Locks Down Commitment To Georgetown

Georgetown University received yet another coup in its Class of 2018 recruiting class with the commitment of Katherine Lee on Friday.

Undoubtedly one of the top prospects in New York, Lee, a senior with Shoreham-Wading River (NY), won the NYSPHSAA Class B cross country championships and the NXR New York region a year ago and then proceeded to finish top 10 at NXN. She was one of the top returning cross country talents nationally, owning a PR of 16:45.45.

So far, Lee has opened conservatively in 2017, though is expected to compete for more state and national recognition.

Lee is as accomplished in cross country as she is on the track, where she's a proven indoor runner with PBs of 1:34.26 in the 600m, 4:36.05 in the 1500m and 9:37.77 in the 3000m.

Over the outdoor season, Lee holds PBs of 2:11.33 in the 800m, 4:23.48 in the 1500m and 9:26.78 in the 3000m -- in the latter races, she finished third and second, respectively, in the state.

Lee joins Mainland Regional (NJ) High's Alyssa Aldridge, who pledged her signature to the Hoyas in September as she recouped from an injury that sidelined her at the start of cross country. Aldridge is also a nationally recognized talent, having finished 13th at Foot Locker Nationals in 2016.

Lee joins a program led by second-year head coach Julie Culley, a former USA Olympian in the 5K.
