Boys #CountdownToXC Day 13: Willow Glen

Talk about a senior-heavy team: Willow Glen ran 4 juniors in last year's Central Coast Section finals, narrowly losing a tie-breaker to St. Francis Mountain View for the Division 2 title there. The Rams didn't race well at the state meet, but they have a strong top 5 back for another shot in 2017. Depth is definitely an issue, but the team's recent record of year-to-year improvement suggests they can overcome that obstacle. Some solid track times also show progress, most notable returning #4 Mustafa Abdalla clocking 9:48 for the 3200. Zach Walker finished 3rd in his section last fall, but he seemed to close the gap with a strong spring season that featured a 4:18 1600. With another solid summer of improvement, the Rams should be able to move toward the top 5 in Division 2 - although their competition in the CCS is also very strong in 2017.
