Boys #CountdownToXC Day 14: Burroughs Burbank

Burroughs has to be the unluckiest team in California over the last two years. In 2015, an injury to Alexander Hirsch derailed a promising season. In 2016, the Indians tore up the course in the Southern Section Prelims, winning their heat with three in the top 5 - only to have an off-race the next weekend and miss the state meet by 1 place (12 points) despite running almost the exact same times. With at least four rising seniors leading the 2017 squad, you have to think the window is going to close soon for a team with much more talent than their recent results would indicate. Hirsch and Jagdeep Chahal (4:22/9:38 this spring) are a potent 1-2 combo when healthy, but the big question is depth. The improvement of rising junior Raymond Berrellez, who broke 10 in the 3200 after running 17:09 in the fall, could help solidify the bottom of the top 7. I'm betting that this is the year the Indians bring it together and finish in the top 10 in Division 1, which is where a team with this much firepower up front belongs.
