Boys #CountdownToXC Day 23: McFarland

There's a lot to like about this McFarland squad. They have a super tight 1-5 pack, whether you look at 5K or 3 Mile times, and that takes the pressure off any one particular runner to be the leader on any given day. The Cougars also have something intangible that you could call the "pride factor:" after missing the state meet last year for the first time in quite a while, you can bet that motivation levels have been high all year. The database says this team is the solid favorite in the Central Section overall, again using either race distance, and that's remarkable for a school that competes in Division 1 despite having less than 900 students. Depth is definitely a concern for the 2017 Cougars - they need to shore up support behind a very solid front 5. If that gets done, though, this could be they year McFarland gets back on top of the Central Section (and don't be surprised if they threaten to make the top 10 at the state meet, either).
