This is a team with a bright future and a strong history, and that's a powerful combination! JSerra has 6 of 7 back from the team that won the Southern Section D4 crown and finished 3rd at the state meet - and that includes 4 girls who were sophomores or freshmen last year. An interesting rivalry is brewing between the Lions and Foothill Tech, the 2016 CIF D4 champs, but this year it looks like JSerra has the advantage coming into the season. With Nadia Tabrizi leading up front, this team has a chance to end a four-year string of near misses: since winning the state championship in 2012, the Lions have been in the top 7 every year, including two third-place finishes, but haven't been able to get back on top. The one weakness that keeps me from moving JSerra up even further is their solid, but not great, track times. Still, their improvement rating says this program has made a habit of having good summers, and we should be looking at a title contender come this fall.
