Luis Grijalva Sticks With Collegiate Competition To Land New 1500 Best

Fairfield Armijo (Ca.) High senior Luis Grijalva ran his seond competitive outdoor 1500m race of the season on Saturday at the Cardinal Classic at Stanford University.

And what did the star distance runner do?

He finished eighth in his heat in 3:47.17 and 13th overall, but that also landed him a new US No. 1 time in the distance at the high school level.

That time shattered his previous best of 4:22.28, which he accomplished in the 2014 outdoor season, and also bested his most recent 1500m performance indoors at the UC Davis All Comers meet, when he raced 3:58.23.

Watch the race above as Grijalva sticks with collegiate competitors throughout.
