Division I Girls
Live!!! Following a very foggy start, Dana Hills girls ran to victory in 91:10 total team time ranking California #2 All-Time when the race was completed. The #13 Nationally ranked Dana Hills girls raced to glory over the famed Woodward Park course in legendary fashion. Staking claim to an NXN berth.
Led by an 8 second spread between the top 3 runners, Alaina Alvarez 18:01, Heather Balbier 18:06, Kristin Parry 18:09, the ladies from the Hills claimed a 65-81 victory over Nat#21 Torrey Pines. The race was close and lived up to the hype as the Milesplit pegged Darkhorse, Torrey Pines, nearly came away with the victory.
Torrey Pines managed to place four runners in the top 20 but was edged 91:10 to 91:11 in team scoring. Perhaps the closest finish in state championship history Torrey Pines averaged 18:15 per runner over the course compared to Dana Hills 18:14. In an unreal turn of events it has become evident that the NXN selection committee will have their hands full sorting through the berth process as both teams were literally even.
On the individual side, Milesplit preview meet favorite Alex Dunne blasted through a commanding lead holding off a slew of challengers to be crowned state champion.
