Who Has the Best Boys Distance Squad? Using XC-Style Scoring to Rank Strength & Depth

Cross country success can predict big track seasons, and depth in the distances during the spring can be a springboard to a powerhouse team in the fall. That's surely the case for Bellarmine College Prep, but how do they stack up against Great Oak?

We looked at the top 5-boy squads for sprints/hurdles and field events, and now it's time to see which schools have the best depth & strength in the distance races so far this spring!  This has special meaning for those runners (and even whole teams) who favor cross country season over track.  You don't have to have big track times to have success in cross country, but it CAN be an indicator of progress and overall program strength.  We'll follow this up tomorrow with RETURNING team rankings in the 1600 and 3200, which tell an ever better story about which squads are making the biggest gains ahead of the 2016 fall season.  In the meantime, check out the "XC-Style" scoring for these current events:

NOTE: a team must have at least 5 athletes with recorded times in a particular event to show in these rankings.
