Sac Joaquin Section Detailed Preview

Division 3 Boys

Teams to Watch

Placer dominated this division in 2014, but the Hillmen also lost their entire top 5 to graduation, and runners-up El Dorado lost 4 seniors of their own. That void leave no clear team favorite for 2015, although last year's 3rd-place team, Vista Del Lago, tops the returning 5K and 3 Mile rankings by a small margin. Rio Americano and Del Oro (the runners-up in Division 2 last year) are both within striking range for the team title, and McNair may also be close enough to contend after also moving down in the realignment this summer. It will be exciting to see how those 4 teams develop during the season, and it may come down to which one has the best race at the section finals.

Returning Team 5K Rankings

Individuals to Watch

Andres Sandoval (McNair) is the only returner in the section that posted a sub-16 5K time, but that may not be enough to declare him the favorite. Dalton Douglas-Hiley (El Dorado) is the top returner from the 2014 section finals, followed closely by Noah Wallace (Rio Americano). It's possible that Remington Breeze (Rio Americano) could have caught or passed all of them, after clocking 9:25 for 3200 on the track (the 7th-best time in the overall section, regardless of division).
