Day 3 Recap: US Wraps Up Panamerican Junior Championships With Record Amount of Golds

In the Women’s 400 Meter Hurdle final, Anna Cockrell grab gold running 57.10. The next finisher (Taysia Radoslaw, Canada) ran 59.08.

In the men’s High Jump final, Randall Cunningham ( USA) and Luis Ferna ( Cuba) were the only 2 guys over 2.16m ( 7-01). In the end, Cunningham took the win based on have fewer misses at lower heights. Cunningham’s win gives the U.S its third straight HJ gold medal at the Pan-Am Championships. In addition, Randall Cunningham’s sister Vashti won the women’s HJ setting a new National Record, American Record, and World Youth Record ( 6-5)

In the Men’s 800m final, Carlton Orange ran 1:48.06 to take first. Orange’s 1:48.06 is the second time that he’s run under 1:50, and it is the 3rd fastest time run by a High School athlete this year ( behind his U.S No.2 1:47.67). USC’s Robert Ford finished 3rd running 1:48.90

In the Women’s 1500m final, Kate Murphy used her signature kick to take first ( 4:21.36). She ran her last 400m in 65.28. University of Utah’s Sarah Feeny finished 3rd in 4:23.21

In the men’s 3000m steeple final, University of Arizona’s Bailey Roth ran 9:02.16 to finish first. Roth’s time tied the Pan-Am Jr. Steeplechase record set back in 1999.Tyler Ranke finished 3rd in 9:16.34

In the final event of the night the U.S swept the 4x4 meter relays. On the girl’s side, the relay team of Olivia Baker, Zola Golden, Kendall Ellis, and Raevyn Rogers ran 3:31. On the guys side, the relay team of Quintaveon Poole, William Allen, Norman Grimes, and my’lik Kerley 3:07.08
