MileSplit\'s Foot Locker Power Rankings - National (Oct. 9)

 

With many of the top individuals not competing this past weekend, or running in smaller invitationals, few changes occurred on this week's top ten lists.  However, one newcomer jumps onto the list.  Peter Dorrell (Sr., Blacksburg, VA) moves to #10 on the boys side.

 

MileSplit's Foot Locker Power Rankings - National (Oct. 9)

 

Boys

 

1. German Fernandez (Sr., Riverbank, CA) - A big win at the 2.3 mile course of the Artichoke Invitational, keeps Fernandez up top.

 

2. Luke Puskedra (Sr., Judge Memorial, UT) - Idle. 

 

3. Chris Derrick (Sr., Neuqua Valley, IL) - Another course record, this time on a balmy day at the Sterling Invitational, Derrick is on a roll.

 

4. Brandon Jarrett (Sr., St. Benedict's, NJ) - Idle.  Clashes with US #8 Doug Smith at Manhattan next weekend.

 

5. Colby Lowe (Sr., Southlake Carroll, TX) - A big time win at Nike South, Lowe continues to be the dominant force in Texas.

 

6. Ben Johnson (Sr., Albuquerque Academy, NM) - Johnson won his team's city championships in a great time, that ranks him with some of the all-time best in New Mexico.

 

7. Vince McNally (Sr., Conestoga Valley, PA) - A big win at the Steel City Invitational, McNally continues to shine.

 

8. Doug Smith (Jr., Gill-St. Bernard's, NJ) - Idle.  Smith sees US #4 Brandon Jarrett next weekend at the Manhattan Invitational.

 

9. Kevin Williams (Sr., D'Evelyn, CO) - Williams continues to dominate his fellow Colorado runners, winning the Englewood Windjammer by 34 seconds.

 

10. Peter Dorrell (Sr., Blacksburg, VA) - Dorrell beat Griff Graves (Sr., Abingdon, VA) at the Maymont XC Festival.  Graves just beat former US #8 Ryan Hill (Sr., Hickory, NC) at the Wendy's Invitational.  While Dorrell ran slower than Graves at Wendy's, he ran in the open race, winning by well over a minute, and also raced later in the day (much warmer).   

 

 

Girls

 

1. Jordan Hasay (Jr., Mission Prep, CA) - A fine 17:23 5k performance at the Clovis Invitational keeps Hasay on top.

 

2. Ashley Brasovan (Jr., Wellington, FL) - Idle. 

 

3. Neely Spence (Sr., Shippensburg, PA) - Idle.

 

4. Katie Flood (So., Dowling Catholic, IA) - Idle from weekend competition. 

 

5. Christine Babcock (Sr., Woodridge, CA) - Idle from weekend competition.

 

6. Carly Seymour (Sr., Central Cambria, PA) - Idle.  Gets another chance to shine at the Manhattan Invitational.  Seymour sees many of the same talents she sees at Foot Locker Northeast.

 

7. Emily Reese (Sr., Chamblee, GA) - No weekend info.

 

8. Aurora Scott (Sr., Home Schooled, VA) - Idle.

 

9. Emily Infeld (Sr., Clev. Heights Beaumont, OH) - Idle.

 

10. Emily Sisson (So., Millard North, NE) - Sisson proves each week that she is the top runner in her home state.  However, does this mean anything at this point in the season, or does she have to prove she is much greater than that?
