Utah Boys show very well at Arcadia Invite

Every season many Utah athletes travel to Southern California for the Arcadia Invitational seeking personal bests and all time state bests. In two events they did just that. The most impressive performances of the meet came in the 3200m and the 4x400m.

Boys 3200m

Ben Saarel of Park City ran the fastest time ever by a native Utahn, and you can read more about that here.

What needs to be highlighted is that this entire 3200 was the deepest in Utah history, and many Utah athletes earned their place on the all time great’s list.

Jake Heslington of Timpanogos ran 8:59.73 which is 2nd in the state. He joined the very rare sub 9 club which only a handful of Utah athletes have ever been part of at the high school level.

You can be sure that Conner Mantz  of Sky View will one day join that same club, as he ran a 9:04.05. Conner is only a Sophomore, and this was a huge 14 second PR for him. His time is also 3rd in the state this year.

Tomy Gutierez of East High came in at 9:07.94 as he finished second in his heat.

Andrew Aposhian of  Davis  came in at 9:19.95 and 9 of the top 10 times in the state this year were recorded at the Arcadia Invitational.

4x400

Riverton’s dominant 4x400 ran an unreal time of 3:18.42 and was 4th in the meet.  Their time was faster than the State Record of 3:18.50 set by West Jordan. The record will not stand since it was set out of state but the Silverwolves are in a great position to make a run at the state record when they get home as they have proved to themselves they can do it. Their team was comprised of Clay Lambourne, Michael Bluth, Brandon Walker and Nikita Mangerus. The craziest thing about this team…. They are all Juniors and have a whole extra year of record chasing ahead of them.

Boys 1600m

Talem Franco of Wasatch ran a great time of 4:18.54 which is  3rd in the State this year and was 6th in the meet.

Tomy Gutierez of  East completed his impressive double with a time of 4:18.66 which is 4th in the state this year.

Skylar Williams of Davis ran 4:20.77 which was good enough for 10th in his heat and 6th in the state this year.

800m

Jackson Sagers ran a 1:56.80 which is 4th best in the state this year. He was followed by teammate Seth Thompson at 1:58.44. Bryan Pearson of Cedar also Broke 2 at 1:59.78.

100m

Dash Seth Fortin 11.10 for 4th in his heat

110h

Chad Best Timpanogos ran a 15.58 in the 110 Hurdles and also Jumped 20-08.75 in the Long Jump.

300h

Cam Dopp of Woods Cross ran a state leading 38.86 in the 300m hurdles.  He was 6th in his heat and 8th overall in the meet.

Boys 200m

Jacopo Spano of Woods Cross ran 22.40 in the 200, he was followed by Trevor Leavitt of Davis at 22.74, and Chandler Judd at 23.36.

400m

Michael Bluth and Clay Lambourne of Riverton Helped with Rivertons unreal 3:18 in the 4x400 relay as well as individually notching the top 2 times in the state this year at 48.65 and 48.83. Bluth’s time placed 8th overall at the meet. Brandon Walker also of Riverton ran 50.14.
Also running well in the 400m was Trevor Leavitt of Davis at 50.13.

4x1600m

Davis Boys 4x1600 was 10th in their heat and ran a great time of 17:57. Woods Cross’ team was 5th in their heat with a time of 18:05 and East High School was right behind in 18:13

DMR

Davis Boys were busy this weekend running in most of the distance events. In the DMR they posted a time of 10:29 which was good enough for 12th in their heat.

Shot Put

Miller Crawford of Riverton threw 54’2.5 and won his heat.  His mark is 3rd in the state so far this season.   He Came Back to throw 153 in the Discus.
