Women Pole Vault
Dara Altman and Lacy Janson found themselves with a heap of others qualifying for the next round in the pole vault with a height of 13-05.25 each. Wharton grad Natalie Moser did not quite make the cut but did manage an impressive 12-09.50.
Men Decathlon
UF\'s Kayne DaKoski continued his success and has had a nice showing of these two days.
Men Long Jump
Rafeeq Curry (FSU) and Mike Morrison (UF) finished 6th and 7th, respectively, int he long jump finals. One of the first events to conclude so far.
Mens Shot Put
Garrett Johnson (FSU) is the number one qualifier out of the prelims in the shot. He had a great throw of 66-03.25.
Women 800
Oak Ridge graduate Lavera Morris (Kentucky) JUST missed qualifying for the finals. It came down to the thousanths place to decide that Leslie Treherne (Tennessee) would advance with her 2:05.862 over Lavera\'s 2:05.867!
Women 1500
FSU\'s Natalie Hughes qualified for Saturday\'s finals with a time of 4:17.13.
400 Meter Hurdles
Dominique Darden of Miami will be the number one seed going into tomorrow\'s semis with her time of 56.56. Lakendra McColumn (FSU) also advances with a time of 58.75.
Women 4x400
Miami will be the #1 seed going into the finals on Saturday--3:29.98.
Mens 100 Meters
Xavier Carter (LSU) and Walter Dix (FSU) both made the finals going 10.15 and 10.26, respectively. Those performances followed times of 10.25 and 10.36 earlier in the day for the two Floridians.
Men 800
We will see Tim Harris of Miami in the finals. He earned the sixth spot with a time of 1:47.74.
Men 1500
Tom Lancashire (FSU) was the top finisher, taking third 3:40.62. But it was also nice to see several former Florida high school stars take it to the track in this event. Rolf Steier (Berkley Prep/Stanford) and John Jefferson (DB Atlantic/Indiana) had showings of 3:45.08 and 3:48.45, respectively. Rolf\'s time got him a ticket to the finals. Shane Stroup of UF finished in 3:51.64 . Stroup and Jefferson round out their distinguished collegeiate careers with tonight\'s performance.
